As technology continues to advance and grow, cybersecurity will remain a constant need. Several high-profile data breaches over the years have highlighted the opportunity for startups looking to secure digital assets, sensitive information and financial data.

Investors poured more than $18 billion globally into cybersecurity startups in 2022, according to PitchBook data. Some of the most valuable companies in the space include Wiz, Lacework, and Fireblocks. The vertical has attracted the attention of big investors like Sequoia Capital, Bessemer and Lightspeed.

While VC deal activity declined from its high of $22.4 billion in 2021 to $18.1 billion in 2022, interest and investment in the vertical remains historically high, according to PitchBook's latest report on the vertical.
